Julie Wainwright
Founder & CEO
Julie has a career in technology and brand management that spans over 25 years. A CEO for over 10 years, she helped pioneer e-commerce as the CEO of Reel.com in 1997 and Pets.com in 1999. She has been recognized as one of the top female entrepreneurs by The San Francisco Business Times. She is also a frequent speaker and has spoken at many prestigious events and universities including Harvard University, Purdue University and CES. She graduated from Purdue University Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in General Management with a minor in Art. She is a former board member of Baker and Taylor, Wizards of the Coast, The San Francisco Art Institute, Magic Theatre and Headlands Center for the Arts. Raised by artists, she developed an early love of fashion and design. She loves clothing with clean lines and she is passionate about high, high heels. Lanvin, Balenciaga, Chloe and Louboutin are some of her favorite designers.
Rati Sahi Levesque
Chief Merchant
Rati was born and raised in San Francisco. An economics major at the University of California Santa Cruz, left the banking world to open a fashion forward clothing boutique called Anica. Anica featured luxury designers like Alexander Wang and more avante garde designers like Maison Martin Margiela. Known as one of the youngest entrepreneurs in San Francisco and on the forefront of fashion, she established a brand with significant followers, including press like Refinery29 and FabSugar. Rati decided to close her popular boutique and join The RealReal as the Director of Merchandising as an early employee with the goal of bringing style and luxury to RealReal customers.
Ann Paolini
Executive Vice President of Sales
Ann joins The RealReal after having spent 25 years with Neiman Marcus in senior management positions. Her most recent role was SVP Managing Director of Last Call, where she rolled out a new store format while growing the web business fourfold. Previously, she held both merchant and store management positions. Ann was an early client of The RealReal and is very happy to be joining the team and returning to San Francisco.
Matthew Gustke
Chief Financial Officer
Matthew joins The RealReal from StubHub, an eBay company, where he was CFO and head of strategy. While at StubHub, the company achieved record high customer satisfaction and experienced accelerated growth for three consecutive years. Prior to StubHub, he spent 9 years at eBay in a variety of roles including investor relations, international finance and CFO for eBay SENE markets.
Nicolas Genest
Chief Technology Officer
Nicolas joins The RealReal from vente-privee.com – the world’s first flash sale site - where he was Chief Technology Officer overseeing operations, products and technology for the new US division in partnership with American Express. While at ventee-privee.com in Europe, Nicolas led the technology department in France from 2007 to 2012, as the company grew from $170M to $1B in revenue. Nicolas holds degrees in Information Technology Management as well as Business and Public Administration.
Chris Deyo
Executive Vice President, Operations
Chris has a career in consumer products and e-commerce that spans over 25 years.  He joins The RealReal with 10+ years of product and business model innovation, including one of the most successful launches in Nestle Dreyer's history, growing Slow Churned Ice Cream to a $500 million business. A president/GM for over 12 years, his e-commerce experience includes president roles at Reel.com and Pets.com. Chris has worked across a wide range of consumer categories after starting his career in brand management at Procter & Gamble. Chris graduated from Syracuse University with a BS and an MBA, with a concentration in marketing.
Marc Viale
Vice President, Marketing
Marc joined The RealReal in August 2012. He is a dotcom veteran and a key player in several high growth startups. In 1999, Marc implemented ofoto.com's customer acquisition & retention programs which lead to the acquisition by Kodak in 2001. In 2005, Marc led direct marketing and loyalty efforts for bebe stores. More recently, from 2009-2012, Marc directed marketing efforts for Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life. Marc is a graduate of Marquette University.
Cynthia Houlton
Vice President, Business Development
Prior to joining The RealReal, Cynthia spent more than fifteen years as an investment banking professional. During the majority of her career she was an institutional equity research analyst covering the technology services sector. She has been an equity analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman, Robertson Stephens and RBC Capital Markets. At RBC Capital Markets she was recognized twice in the Wall Street Journal's annual "Best on the Street" survey for stock picking ability. She has a BA in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Wesleyan University.
