Brodsky’s meticulously rendered miniatures explore the emotional effects of empty spaces. In this piece, she captures a peaceful scene backed by a sun-drenched sky. Rendered with exacting classical technique the piece is a beautiful example of Brodsky's technical virtuosity.
Dina is known for her romanticized scenes that are imparted with such emotion that they can't help but take on a metaphorical nature for the viewer. Brodsky was born in Minsk, Belarus, in 1981. Her family immigrated to the US in 1990. She was educated at University of Massachussets Amherst and New York Academy of Art, where she received her MFA. She lives and works in New York City. She has taught privately, and in several institutions, including the Brookline Center for the Arts and, most recently, the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
